Download and install the “map legend” which is a seperate map. There are several bridleway combinations inside. The base legend.osm is in the svn repository up to date.

Hi EC, I don't have mapsource so tried with Qlandkarte on Windows XP and installed created the gmapsupp.img file for the Dakota using the thin style. I can see the legend in Qlk and the Dakota. The Dakota appears to be displaying more lines than Qlk but everything I see in Qlk displays on the Dakota 20. What I cannot see is a test case for highway=bridleway in either Qlk or the Dakota. Where should it be displayed ? Do you have an example coordinate ?
I have noticed that the bridleway IS on the Dakota but is invisible, so, if you know where to hover the pointer you can see the "Bd" text appear in the Dakota's selection panel. If you can tell me where to get an old legend install file, I can try that too.

I cannot understand your problem. They are rendered correct in Mapsource and Qlandkarte GT. If they were not rendered, there would be probably many other line types missing too. Please install the map legend on your Dakota 20, and report me all missing lines that are drawn in Mapsource, but not on the Dakota. Otherwise I cannot solve this.

In the Great Britain map we have now lost some highway=bridleway routes. For example: http://osm.org/go/0EQRLbhBX-  these cannot be seen on the 28/08/2010 map on my Dakota 20. In the previous update they were being drawn as bridges (two parallel black lines).

For all others who get the following error message when running "create_mapsource_installationfiles_with_mkgmap.bat":

"— mkgmap working – please wait —

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
at java.nio.HeapByteBuffer.(Unknown Source)…"

You have to increase the java heap size by editing the java command in the batch file. Change (around line 304):
start /low /b /wait java -ea -jar -Xmx512M mkgmap.jar –index –show-profiles=1 –description="%srtm%_%date%" –country-abbr=%abr%%srtmtext% –country-name="%date%_%srtmtext%" –family-id=%FID% –product-id=1 –series-name="%srtm%_%date%" –family-name="%srtm%_%date%" –tdbfile –overview-mapname=mapset%FID% –area-name="%abr%_%date%_openmtbmap.org" %img999%

To:

This change fixed the problem here.

Yeah, the bridleway & bicycle=no combination had some issue (bridge instead of crosses were shown). As for Wasserturm, that should only be displayed if language is set to German.

I think I have found a couple of issues with recent updates – 19th August. I can't be sure as this is only the second time I have installed the map.
In the Great Britain map on my Garmin Dakota 20, it looks like highway=bridleway is being drawn incorrectly.

West of Main Street, the tagging is only highway=bridleway and on the Dakota it is drawn as two parallel black lines and looks really ugly. I don't think this issue was in the map a few weeks ago but I can't be certain. Tagging like this is all over the UK.
East of Main Street, the tagging is again highway=bridleway but also has designation and bicycle, horse tags etc. This is drawn nicely as a blue line.
Also, there is a water tower POI east of Main Street (not visible on OSM). It appears on the Dakota in German: Wassenturn.
Let me know if I can do anything to help.
