Nach dem Trouble mit der Website waehrend der letzten Tage, diesmal nur ein Update der Kartendaten. Zum naechsten mal dann hoffentlich bessere Straßenkennzeichnungen und POI Kategorien.

Other osm maps for garmin devices support search by address.
But openmtbmap seems to do not. Why? Or I’m wrong?
Please tell me which.
At least this one:

No you definitely can’t search for adresses with that one, you can search for POIs like with the openmtbmaps, but no more. As both maps are created with mkgmap there is no difference at all as mkgmap can’t create the search index yet. You could personally use cgpsmapper to create maps with search for adress function (menu not grayed out) but you are not allowed by licence to publish these maps, and you will miss many functions.
that you can do with openmtbmaps too. What is impossible with any map created by mkgmap is the “search address” function which is grayed out. What you show is find by city which is possible with almost any map.
With both maps you can search for streets, but neither can search for address like City Navigator or maps created with commercial cgpsmapper. Remember that disabling a map does not disable search for address. So if you install CN and openmtbmap or other maps, you can disable CN, search for address (CN will be used for it) but the routing will happen on the activated maps. Sorry but your screenshots are worthless. Maybe you sent the Radkare with CN or cgpsmapper created maps or regions at the same time, and openmtbmap for another region or without CN. Both maps have exactly the same address search functions, twould be great if someone could implement *.idx creation for mkgmap, as this is where the real search address function resides in (and don’t create empty .idx, which is like empty .dem which you can both do via gmaptool).
Servus!
First of all: Thanks for these great maps!
Am I correct – Emergency Access Points are not shown on the map? I added three EAP to OSM lately, none shows up on the MTB maps. Maybe you could make all emergency POIs (hospital, pharmacy, EAP etc.) even search- and routable?
Might be good to have them, especially if you’re such a bad biker as I am…
Grazie,
Marc
I will try to implement it for next map update. (hopefully tomorrow)

Just a question: why in openmtbmap are displayed the POI’s tagged with “amenity=fuel”? We don’t need petrol in mtb!
..thats right but you may need air / water or some kind of “service point”
i think, and i know many italian users the same, it will be VERY useful for people to have again the “ref” tag reported in the ways of your maps.
in italy, a lot of tracks are coded/signed by “Club Alpino Italiano” (http://www.cai.it/index.php?id=26&L=1), and it is a usuful system to find the way when you are hiking: can you consider it in the next maps?
