Vi prego di aiutarmi ad avere schermate carine dai vostri GPS con X-image mentre visualizzano le Openmtbmap !!!!!
Qualsiasi immagine bella presa dai GPS Garmin,PDA o Smartphone mentre visualizzano le openmtbmap. Meglio se con l'Autorouting o tracce e curve di livello visibili.
(se caricate meno di 3 schermate, vi chiedo di darmi la liberatoria dal copyright – così da non dovere mettere nei crediti un lungo elenco di persone).
Semplicemente mandatemi un email con le schermate.

Layout "thin". Notare che se volete usarlo per la Mountain Bike, io raccomando il Layout "classic", che ha le strade più larghe. Tuttavia dentro le città con la bicicletta, il layout "thin" va comunque molto bene.
Le prime con zoom 5km per una panoramica fino a ad un dettaglio di 50m. Da notare che la mappa è solo così "affollata" perchè Vienna è una grande città. In campagna la mappa risulta un pò più pulita mentre si aumenta lo zoom.
Le bandiere blu sono Punti di Interesse salvati localmente sul GPS e non fanno parte della mappa.

Of course I also have a question: I’m trying to find a good typfile for the display on my Garmin Montana 650 with its large screen (272×480 pixels). The classic typefile seems to be nearly what I want, but several areas are not displayed, e.g., landuse=grass (much used in the Netherlands). As a reference, I like the standard openstreetmap mapnik style (can’t find an editable typfile), and I very pleased with the OnRoute Wandelkaart style (but hasn’t as many details as the Classic MTB typefile).
Reference: I work nearly exclusive with a Unix PC, so download .exe file, 7z all files and then use mkgmap to create a gmapsupp.img for a country (NL, IT), which I then rename “OSM-NL.img” and move to the SD card in my USB mounted Garmin.
What typfile do you recommend, or how can I easily create (under Unix) what I want?

well, landuse=grass is not in the maps at all. Yes it looks nice, but has it ever helped you on orienation?
White background == good contrast. Green Background == sucks. Hence I removed grass from my maps, as grass for me can be considered as empty map.
what other osm objects do you miss?
Classic seems in general fine for the resolution. If you need wider streets, even better contrast, you could use wide layout. If you want less contrast on roads, more contrast on landuse/natural you could give the desktop layout a try.

Thanks for the explanation that you’ve excluded landuse=grass. Yes, I does help me quite a bit to know whether I’ve got to cross a grassy area or a forest. Oh, the landuse=forest seems also to be missing. Intentional?
I’ve tried the wide, and I think I like the classic better: is it crispier. What TYP file would I use for the desktop layout? I don’t seem to have one. Any unix tool that I can use for editing a TYP file?

Well forest of course should be in the map. However for the wide layout, I made forest pretty “white” too. Maybe the contrast on your GPS didn’t suffice for you to notice it. On the classic layout it is (at least for me) easy to distinguish.
What are you using the maps for?? Because if your mtbiking quickly in the forest, contrast of ways is the most important thing IMHO, so putting a bold green forest you cannot see the ways anymore.
As for Desktop layout, use the “trad” traditional Mapsource/Basecamp/Qlandkarte GT layout. It has much lower contrast, and hence nicer to work with. There are some online typfile editors, however I don’t really know how good and errorfree they are. Also mkgmap got a .typ-file compiler (and there is an java tool to decompile it to the format), but I haven’t yet found the time to fully try it out.
Yes, now you mention it: there is an off-white colouring, that could be forest.
I’m using the maps and the GPS mostly for geocaching, viz., walking in a forest or streets, and trying to determine whether I’ve got to search left in the shrubs or just across this field, or right in the trees. Also buildings etc are important: on which site would I need to search. The best colouring I’ve seen sofar are those of the OnRoute maps, but they are only for the Netherlands, not often updated (just once in all those years, AFAIK), and they cost a lot of money. I’d rather make my own maps off Openstreetmap. Hence the search for a good TYPfile and its editor, preferably on Unix.
okay, for leaving trails and ways, the situation is of course different. You could give the desktop layout a try, but it may be too low contrast. Or start with it and change it for more contrast.

pics runtergeladen, werde sie Morgen einbaun. Warum benutzt du nicht das wide layout? Das classic oder ist es sogar thin, scheint mir zu dünn zu sein zum guten ablesen, oder täusche ich mich`?
Ich wollte mal Q-Landkarte/Mapsource ausprobieren.
Für mich ist das OK.
Ist ja schon 640×360 das Display und sehr hell.
Achso und credits brauchst du nicht zu machen.

Hallo nochmal…..
nun habe ich mich nochmal eine ganze Zeit damit beschäftigt (nachdem ich mit IMG2MS und im Garmin Ordner die Europa gelöscht habe) und es geht immer noch nicht.
Nochmal, ich habe einen neuen Ordner angelegt, dann die “europe.exe” hinein, dann die “europe7z” in den gleichen Ordner.
Nun die “europe7z” in den gleichen Ordner entpacken.
In dem “gemeinsamen” Ordner sind nun die entpackte “Europa” mit 5,11 GB und die “exe” mit 135 MB.
Es sind 852 Karten und noch 18 Dateien und Dokumente incl. die “europe.exe”.
Nun habe ich die “exe” gestartet (in dem Fenster werden wie schon bei der ersten Mail erwähnt 309 MB angezeigt)

Was mache ich noch falsch?
